The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) recently hosted The 15th Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress & 2024 IDA Annual Conference, which brought together 11,000 global financial insurance elites for a mega convention across four days.
Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress (WCLIC) is held in conjunction with the 26th National Chinese Life Insurance Congress, supported by Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), and it attracted delegates from more than 250 institutions across 17 countries and regions.
MyCEB reported that the event generated an estimated economic impact of RM176,500,000 (US$229.5m) for Malaysia. The convention was also supported by MCMC which ensured mobile connectivity.
MITEC used its own staff and 1,711 members of its casual labour force, helping to showcase the venue’s capacity and operational capability.
“We are beyond excited to have finally welcomed WCLIC to MITEC and incredibly honoured to be the venue of choice for such a prestigious event,” said Cemone Chua, head of marketing & sales at MITEC. “After tirelessly pursuing this opportunity since 2019, our team is elated to have played host to such a significant event.”
General manager of business development, Winnee Lim added: “I am immensely proud of the extensive project management that went into making WCLIC a resounding success. Our team undertook a rigorous planning process, hosting countless internal and external meetings to ensure every detail was meticulously addressed. From logistics and operations to food and beverage services, each element was carefully orchestrated to guarantee a seamless experience for the 11,000 attendees.”
In support of the local SMEs, MITEC incorporated several unique elements into the event including collaboration with the KL Food Truck Association to offer delegates a culinary journey through Malaysia, featuring an array of local street food as well as partnering with MyCreative Ventures Group which empowers local creative visionaries to showcase and sell their handcrafted artisanal products to attendees. MITEC showcased the culture and taste of Malaysia by converting its huge loading dock into a lively Durian Fiesta Bazaar, catering to the fondness for this distinctive fruit.
