KUCHING (Oct 24): Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TM One to accelerate its transformation into a fully digital, intelligent, and sustainable port by 2030.
The MoU was signed during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025 here on Wednesday, witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Under the partnership, BPHB and its subsidiaries will undergo extensive modernisation of their communication and network infrastructure.
The transformation will involve the deployment of hyper-connected systems, advanced digital technologies, and smart solutions.
TM One will provide end-to-end digital infrastructure and smart solutions to strengthen Bintulu Port’s position as a world-class logistics and LNG export hub.
BPHB president and group CEO Dato Ruslan Abdul Ghani said the collaboration marks a major step forward in positioning the port for the future.
“By embracing cutting-edge technologies including Private 5G and AI-powered analytics, we are positioning Bintulu Port as a global-standard logistics and LNG export hub that can compete on the global stage.
“This initiative is fully aligned with the aspirations of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Drive, reinforcing our commitment to support the state’s vision for a smarter, more connected, and sustainable future,” he said in a statement.
TM One executive vice president Shanti Jusnita Johari said the partnership reflects TM One’s role in advancing Malaysia’s national infrastructure.
“By integrating Private 5G, advanced connectivity, and secure cloud platforms across Bintulu Port’s ecosystem, we are enabling real-time operations, predictive insights, and seamless data exchange between terminals.
“These capabilities will accelerate the port’s transformation towards becoming a fully digital and intelligent logistics hub, strengthen Sarawak’s industrial ecosystem, and support Malaysia’s renewable and sustainable growth ambitions,” she added.
The digital transformation will enable real-time data exchange, automation, and predictive analytics across all port operations, improving cargo management, logistics safety, and operational transparency.
Its secure and scalable ICT backbone will also support future innovations in smart port operations and environmental efficiency initiatives.
The collaboration leverages TM’s extensive nationwide network infrastructure and Tier-III certified data centres to ensure system resilience and scalability for future growth.
