A new logistics corridor for the seamless movement of goods between China and ASEAN has opened up.
The first Liuzhou–Qinzhou–ASEAN rail-sea intermodal train, carrying 56 standard containers of automotive parts, departed from Liuzhou railway port in Liuzhou City, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Monday morning.
The train left Liuzhou railway port, and it will be loaded onto a ship after arriving at Qinzhou port and then bound for Malaysia.
As the first rail-sea intermodal train on the New Western Land-Sea Corridor departed from Liuzhou railway port, the launch of the train marked the start of a regular rail-sea transportation to ASEAN countries.
With this launch, Liuzhou railway port has officially been integrated into the Beibu Gulf Port’s inland port system, which will expand the reach of rail-sea intermodal trains along the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.
The new route will provide a more efficient international logistics corridor to further expand the ASEAN market for goods manufactured in Liuzhou.
To fully leverage the advantages of rail transport, including its high capacity, low cost, all-weather operation, and environmental benefits, China Railway Nanning Group Co., Ltd has been continuously optimizing transportation arrangements.
From January to October this year, a total of 8,424 standard containers of automotive parts were transported by the Liuzhou–Qinzhou rail-sea intermodal service.
Liuzhou, the largest industrial city in Guangxi, has a strong manufacturing base and industrial support capacity. It is a key national automotive parts production base, an export hub for automobiles and parts, and a demonstration base for the country’s automotive industry.
The successful operation of the Liuzhou–Qinzhou–ASEAN rail-sea intermodal train further expands the reach of the rail service, effectively connecting the logistics chain from Liuzhou–Qinzhou–ASEAN. This direct, efficient connection between Liuzhou and ASEAN countries is expected to reduce logistics costs and enhance cross-border trade facilitation.
