PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Productivity Corp (MPC), through its Logistics Productivity Nexus (LPN), has collaborated with researchers, subject matter and industry experts to develop the Logistics Sustainability Performance Framework (LSPF).

The framework is meant to increase the productivity, performance and competitiveness of Malaysia’s logistics industry.

In a statement, MPC said the LSPF is a holistic sustainability framework covering three main aspects of the Logistics Performance Index, Eco Strategy, and Sustainable Performance in the logistics and transportation business.

The all-inclusive LSPF aims to measure, track and improve Malaysia’s logistics industry readiness based on the latest data, practices and tools.

The implementation of the LSPF will present the most current data, allowing the relevant authorities and industry players to design appropriate interventions and action plans to boost the industry further.

Director-general Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman said: “The government is aware of the significance of logistics as the enabler for the country’s trade and businesses and the industry’s crucial role in the supply chains, domestically and globally.

“In the 12th Malaysia Plan, MPC has the mandate to establish the LPN to increase the industry’s productivity and competitiveness at the sectoral and enterprise levels. LSPF is among the initial flagship projects towards this end.”

He said Malaysia’s economy is rising swiftly above the pandemic.

“Productivity rose tremendously by 5.5% in second-quarter 2022, with wealth created per employment at RM23,322 per person.”

He said MPC is optimistic that Malaysia’s productivity will surpass the target of 3.6% growth this year.
